I thought I saw a plume on my flight from SFO to LAX last night. It sounds like the USFS is being reasonable in their approach to let the fire do its work.

I was climbing at the Needles and Dome Rock this weekend and got a good eyeball of the fire, which increased in size over the weekend. Smoky in the morning but then clear in the afternoon as an inversion layer (or whatever it was; I'm no meteorologist) capped alot of the smoke over the burn area. Really good views of it from the Needles Lookout. Wish I had a picture to post. Hopefully they'll get it contained soon.

Drove from Bishop to LA yesterday and the Owens Valley was choked with smoke. I usually don't have problems with air quality but I was sneezing up a storm. It's a good idea to let nature run her course.
