Hi Gang....
Heading up Split August 11....has anyone been there recently...any issues heading up the normal tourist route? Taking a relative mountain newbie and want to make sure that I have him properly outfitted. Also, we are heading up there in a Suburban with regular Chevy clearance...has all this water runoff done anything particularly dastardly to the road up to the trailhead?
Thanks in advance....

The road is fine, you won't have any trouble with it at all (in fact I'm not really sure what all the fuss is about. . .). There was a group of three coming down as we were heading in. They said that they turned around near the top because of a snowfield. However, the other two people up there weren't deterred by the snow, and they mentioned that a number of other people had also summited via that route recently.

It's dated by over a month, so I'm sure there's been a lot of melt out, but you can read my TR here:

The road is easy, especially if you're driving a 'burb.
