Bob if you want photos, PM me with your email address. It was neve on saturday 15th with some ice on left side, but that ice was pretty wet (was a warm day). There are spots with ice on the right side too higher up. I didn't think it was worth a trip to do. Especially for you.

Thanks, guys! I'm probably heading up there in a few weeks with a partner who will be doing her first couloir. A mix of neve and ice will be just fine for her. I just want to make sure we don't hike back there to discover the conditions are as bad as the U-Notch.

As you know with this feature, conditions will only improve as the temps begin to drop at night.
Should be in great condition for ya by Mid October.

Loved it! And caught the last ferry of the season too. Mainly neve with some patches of ice. 'Schrund was no big deal.
