Any leaf peeping going on yet? Photos and reports will be appreciated. I hope to get out and see some of the color, so reports will help with the trip planning. I'm also interested in Nevada and Utah; so I guess I'll go post over there too.

There is a little color in the drier areas if Rock Creek Canyon, but a couple of weeks away from full color. Same for Crowley. The Sweetwater Mountains and Sonora Pass have a few groves that just started turning a couple of days ago, nothing big though. I think all the moisture in the soil has extended the growing season for the aspens.

The aspens between Ebbets Pass and Markleeville are just barely starting to turn.

Think we posted this on the WRONG thread. Is the Lockett Meadows road open yet ???

It sounds like the colors will be a little later than typical this year - that works for me because I won't be able to hit the road to do a fall colors tour until October 6thor 7th. I might start in the Eastern Sierra, work my way through Nevada, and then wander over to Southeast Utah before heading back to SoCal.

I'm getting close, but I'm not retired yet. Sometimes I work lots of hours and other times I can take time off and go play - it just depends on how much work I have in front of me. My road trips are typically short - around a week long because that's about as long as I can take living in the back of my truck at one time.

Sick leave sucks, but I decided to do a little rehab by working the clutch on the truck o' fun this afternoon. Just little pieces here and there, so mostly close-ups, but I found at least one flash of solid color. Others might be a little more hiking, but I'm not allowed until I see the doc for follow-up on Monday...

And the leaves weren't the only things with flashes of color:

And back to flora...
