ROL, gorgeous composition! You've inspired me to try some B+W this weekend, despite the color!

Resupply?!?

Food? Film? Dancing girls?

How much do you charge for this service?

Trees are looking pretty grim in McGee Canyon after the snowstorm froze most of the cottonwood leaves. There is stiil some color to see, but the show will be far below normal. The aspen groves near the top of Conway Summit were hit hard also.

Hopefully the June Lake Loop and Lundy Canyon still have some WOW left when it's time to turn. I haven't been by there to take a look.

Sierra fall color was mostly a dud for my efforts. I did get one image near Convict Lake, but for the most part, there was as much or more green in the leaves as there was yellow, and much of what yellow there was had begun turning black.

Greg... you made it to Convict!!

Sorry that your first trip to these areas wasn't as spectacular as they would normally be.

BTW, the Boss took some folks on an attempt of the MR over the weekend, No go! Too much snow above 10k. 1 to 3 feet in areas and it got deeper as they ascended to UBSL so they turned around. Just wanted to let you know that it was a good thing that you did the same when you did.

Not in autumn but very near:

Hey Rick,

Yes, I did make it to Convict, I went Thursday AM thinking the weather would have begun clearing by late morning, but it was still snowing heavily at times and getting even colder into the early afternoon. Walked around the lake while visiting the area. It is a beautiful place. Thanks for sending me that way, it was a good call on your part.

A story for all you pixel peeping, fall foliage fanatics:

One upon an autumnal night a biiiiig, cooold, storm came along. Brrrr...

Oh, how the aspens did quake!

Their leaves suffered bravely but did freeze,
Image

They became brown and black with frostbite,
ImageImage

Though a few survived,

Image

Naked were others as they were changing out of their fall finery,

But take heart brave little soul, color still exists even without the yesterday's beloved aspens,
Image

Now go the %*#@ to sleep!

(For the adults, and god do I hope there aren't any around here, large color displays in the Eastern Sierra above 9K limited or gone, below still possible by the end of October, all images Oct. 8 & 9, 2011),

Stuff is just starting to turn down here in B-town, so there's plenty of color left to be had! I found this shot from here in town, my first fall here (October, 2008):

So there's potential for some gorgeous contrast, especially with the bright yellow rabbitbrush, the cottonwoods, and the mountains in the not-so-far distance!
