Anyone climbed the snow creek route on San Jacinto in the winter? I'm looking for a challenging hike/climb close to LA and to get me back in shape and setup some winter Sierra climbs. http://www.summitpost.org/snow-creek/155928 Not a lot of info on winter conditions though, thoughts on if it could be climbed in the next week or two?

Of course it could, but there's hardly any snow. It hasn't snowed in weeks, and there was barely a couple of feet to begin with, so...conditions are BAD. Usually it's best done in the early spring.

whoever climbed down a few hundred feet from the peak and back up recently--thank you very much for the staircase the last bit of the way--we were spent at that point---snowcreek sucks right now--just as much granite as snow from 7400 up, and what snow is there is soft with a crust..crappy fun.
