I wonder what the Anti-Permit Crowd will deduce from this.

Permit system is basically the same this year as it was last year.

IMHO the big difference has absolutely nothing to do with the permits and everything to do with the fact that last year was a near record high snowfall year and this year was near a record low snowfall year. A fair number of last years mishaps were directly the result of spring runoff conditions lasting well into late July.

I'm still trying to figure out how that guy managed to get that far off of the cables.

That certainly seems like the most reasonable explanation.

Holy Shit! That is one very fortunate dude! Fortunate he somehow managed to find just the right foothold at the last second,
and fortunate for him that there was a very smart, level-headed ranger around who could devise a way to quickly rescue his ass. . . Jeez.
Yeah, how in the hell did he get over there?
