I think this is a tough one but, maybe someone here on SP knows this peak. In 1919, Francis Farquhar noted "a particularly beautiful peak that towers above the head of the canyon like another Matterhorn" in the Upper Fish Creek region, a mile above what is now the John Muir Trail. Farquhar proposed the name of Piscator Peak.

Galen Rowel and partners put up couple of routes on this in 1989 and said the peak is P 11,280+ a mile east of the John Muir trail just north of Silver Pass.

Pen and I have been searching for the peak for couple of weeks now with no success.

Anybody out there knows the location on the map? Much appreciated.

We might have found the answer. RJs Third Edition lists the peak as 11,343' and that elevation is listed on the map about 1.5 mile north of Silver Pass. Again, if anyone could confirm or has more info, it would be much appreciated.

Captured this image of the west face of the Piscator Peak arete against the right shoulder of Red Slate on my SX130 last week on July 27, 2012 from the ridge west of Peter Pande Lake. Downsized from 4000x3000 to 2000x1500. I have a 9-day trip planned for a future summer, maybe 2013, that base camps at nearby Hortense Lake.

From the photo, I cannot quite figure out which one is Piscator Peak and which is the west face arete. Would you please elaborate as to what peaks are in the photo? I assume the broad one in the center is Red Slate, but I'm not sure. Thanks, Alois.

North Buttress. II 5.8 First ascent August 15, 1988, by Galen Rowel and Kevin Worral. Ascend the buttress over excellent knobs and solid plates to the summit.
North Dihedral. I, 5.8 First ascent August 15, 1988, by Dick Duane and Sebastian Letemendia. This route climbs the large dihedral that is right of the north buttress. This route eventually leaves the dihedral and joins the north buttress.

Find Peter Pande Lake, find Red Slate Mountain. Take a straight edge and connect it between the ridge just west of the northern end of the lake and what would be "right shoulder of Red Slate ". Then consider Secor's description above you apparently have. Next drag that spot to the center cross hairs of the Acme topo, then + zoom twice to get the max zoom. Note Secor's elevation.

Better bring up Google Earth in 3D on that spot and see why Farquhar was impressed.
