Driving to Junipero Serra Peak trailhead from Highway 1??

Is it possible to reach the Junipero Serra Peak trailhead
from highway 1 by taking Nacimiento-Fergusson Road? The direction on climber.org and summitpost only give directions from the 101. Is it possible to drive through Fort Hunter from the 1 to reach the trailhead or is the only way from the 101???

Reachable but not directly, you have to go all the way to Hunter Liggett and then backtrack.
Make sure you have current insurance and license on the base (they will check) and they speedtrap the absolute living hell out of the base roads.
Edit: Looked at your linked map and that looks like the route.
