The Mount Shasta area got about only a light dusting of snow on Thursday night. My place is about 400 feet higher than town and we got 3 inches. It has been sunny and cold since. The high country got more snow, but I am not sure how much. Forecast for this area is rain and mid 50's for the foreseeable future.

Two back to back storms to hit this weekend, think the passes are now closed for the duration.

"Two to three feet of snow accumulation is possible in the Sierra Nevada."

The storm front has been mostly a bust thus far here in Tahoe- far too warm this weekend.

We got about 6 inches at 7k last night but it rained most of the day.

Snow is down to about 5,000 here in Shasta but that is pretty light. My house is at 4,000 and there is a chance of snow at that level tonight, though I rather doubt it. Other than that, we have rain in the forecast for the next few days and then some sun. It will be nice Christmas tree cutting up here...

Avalanche Advisory for Tahoe:

This has been a very very wet storm on top of an icy base. Be careful if you are out and about this weekend.

I think I posted some obscure winter themed tunes from Johnny Cash and Ray Charles in another thread, matching the more common tune I posted in this one. Larry, somehow you captured my wavelength. While most wouldn't consider it a classic, you posted a scene from my favorite Christmas movie of all time and that is my favorite song from the movie. 8)

California forecasts are calling for lots of sun and not much snow in December. I wonder what I'll be able to easily access when I have time to head to the high country again at the end of the month!?

Regardless, after a wet start with over 6 inches of rain at my place and over 12 at some of my nearby hiking spots, December is shaping up to be a great time to run the trails around where I live. Much of the state has only approached freezing temperatures one night this fall. Plants are faring well, and so were fall colors prior to winds over the weekend. Our golden rolling hills are green again until the dry season starts. Aside from the short days, it should be a fun time to be outside.

Think I'll look for that one. God, she's heavenly. . .
