I am thinking of climbing Laurel Mt (NE Gully) or Mt Morrison (East valley) this weekend. Does anyone know the snow conditions? Is the NE gully safe to climb? I don't know how much snow/wind the area got lately. Thanks!

I skied Baby Morrison a week ago; snow coverage was mainly deep dry powder. With the cement storm we had last Thurs, I would be concerned about stability and cohesion on those 30 degree slopes. Laurel doesn't sound like a good idea; I'd tackle Morrison if I had to do either. Bring a buddy and a beacon.

Thanks, Deb! Good to know - I'd never guess from the weather here.

Hey Fruit Fly! Did you ever go out to Convict Lake peaks? Curious what you found. With this little system coming thru, we hope to find a nice layer of pow by morn. Makes Old Man's Bowl sound pretty tasty.

Sorry, work intervened and I didn't climb. Hope you had fun.
