First step toward a Mount Eddy Wilderness

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest recently purchased 700 acres of private land on Mount Eddy and are moving forward with purchasing another 2,300 acres.The article is found here. I spoke with a representative of the forest service and he said that, long range, this move is intended to enable the creation of a wilderness area on Mount Eddy. He said something on par with the Castle Crags Wilderness is envisioned, in terms of size. There is a possibility of constructing trails to Dobkins, Durney and Little Crater Lakes, though this is far from certain. The sections purchased are highlighted in red below, the planned purchase is in blue:
