Small lakes on the Virginia Lakes trail August 4th:

Stanton Peak, Virginia Peak and Whorl Mountain (in back) from the Summit Lake trail

East Lake from the summit of Epidote Peak:

Got an early start and avoided the smoke and haze. The summit block of Epidote Peak was enjoyable, just with there was more of it.

I guess not many people are going out into the Sierra???

A great two night trip out of South Lake with a superb pair of partners last weekend. We had a splendid time!

Here the Middle Fork of the Kings River winds through Grouse Meadow.

Image

Followed by a steep climb up Rambaud Creek, with a nice view up Palisade Creek to Mather Pass.

Image

Finally we reached the base of Devils Crag. Here in the morning as the sun hits.

Image

And of course the BetaLight shot…

Image

My partners head over the talus to Rambaud Pass.

Image

Initial view of Devils Crag was a bit intimidating.

Image

Good climbing on the ridge though. Here I look down from the first class 4 section.

Image

Heading through the Rabbit Ears. Very exposed… there wasn’t really anything below that 8 inch ledge his feet are on for quite a ways.

Image

Finishing up the second class 4 section. Bit of loose rock on this one.

Image

And coming down the crux.

Image

Afterwards we went over to Wheel Mountain. Nice view back to Devils Crag.

Image

My partners descending the steep bit below Rambaud Pass in the afternoon.

Image

Shallow lake on the way out at about 10300 feet with the Palisades in the background.

Image

Devils Crag

Image

Exiting through Dusy Basin, Agassiz, Winchell, Thunderbolt, North Palisade, and Isosceles Peak line the background.

I think people are getting out, but not everyone posts about it in this thread. People post about their weekend adventures more on facebook.

Very glad I'm not on it either. Hell, my cell phone still just makes phone calls.

University Peak pano from Saturday. Happy to get a few clouds, makes everything look so much better, esp with zero snow on the surrounding peaks.

The sierra peak bagging year is not over yet! So that percentage might change.

Hmmmm, yes, clearly. Let me put away my umbrella so you can shit on my parade. Go get 'em and scratch my name out of the register. Geeez

The weather seems to be by far the most calm and beautiful at this time of the year in the Sierra!

16 hour solo Dayhike of Deerhorn Mountain this past Monday shows some panorama views. Thankfully looks like the smoke is starting to clear up.

Best part I was sleeping in my own warm bed 40 minutes after I got back to my car!

I was just making a technical correction. You could have avoided my response if you had typed "summit both of these peaks so far this year."

You know, there's other women out there doing remote sierra peaks....and I felt like you were not acknowledging that in your comment.

On that note, I totaled 100% of all chicks to summit Deerhorn Mountain this entire year.

I am not the asshole here. I sent an open invitation expressing my availability and interest for partners on the east side, referring to you as well, and you "shit on my parade" of an invitation.

Oh, yeah. You're the *epitome* of giving credit where credit is due.

I'M AN ASSHOLE?! REALLY! And my comment needed a "technical correction"? Who the fuck are you?!
Your standard high school kid could ascertain that my comment of women summiteers is thus far this year. Duh. Indidn't take anything away from the girl who summitted before us, nor order that no others shall pass. It IS empowering for young women to know that older women are out there still gettin' some .. or do you not agree because you gave no clue what or who you are? And the fact that I am still doing and am able with a heart condition gives me plenty of height for excitement when I accomplish something big.
And BTW, I DID send you an FB invite to rock climb and you never responded, therefore I take the hint.
