clmbr wrote:Current Conditions of Clear Creek Route:

Between now and another dump of new snow the Clear Creek route may be hiked/climbed without touching any snow except on the plateau (and that may be avoided). Stay right on the trail all the way to Red Rock (yes the trail is there all the way, just don’t lose it) and then go up the "steep rocks" navigating thorough or zigzagging in between snow patches. No crampons needed at all.

If you desire to traverse the snow slope to the right of the Red Rock, I would definitely recommend crampons, ice-axe and (just in case) self arrest skill.

I think I've finally become tired of this route.

BTW, the toilet paper was in the restroom again after reopening the US Government.

No video?

If you climbed Clear Creek a couple more times you could compile all the pics and flip through them and it would be like a time lapse video showing conditions year round.

Nice update...

Of the toilet paper? Unforgivable!

Nice video clmbr. Snow melting off quick for how cold it is I think.

Those daypacks looked big! And harnesses and double boots too... gotta weed through that gear maybe?

And watch out for that Marco dude... he may be stalking you.

So what route is next?

I've hit up all mine... looking to do some variations next year. Bolam Gully, west side of Hotlum, Cascade Gulch again but exit onto the glacier this time. Whitney again. And maybe even Konwakiton at some point.

Well, I still keep the option to climb all (5) glaciers at once open (perhaps solo). Other than that Whitney Glacier (my favorite), Hotlum Glacier (my mousetrap), and Wintum Glacier (it looked nice when you climbed it).

As none glaciated routes: Casaval Ridge (an annual must), H/B ridge (an easy north side approach and to visit my friends, ice worms), AG (for the company), and now Clear Creek (in a day a couple of times).

I’m hoping to climb Mt Shasta next year at least 10 times.

Where exactly are these worms?

In the water stream at H/B ridge base camp. They must be coming from Bolam Glacier. I’ve not seen them this year though.

It has been pretty nice for this time of the year. It has been creeping into the low 60's here in town and is supposed to maintain that through the next 3 or 4 days, though some clouds are supposed to show up around Monday. This is probably the last gasp of decent weather. Make it count!

Thanks, though I don't check in on Summitpost nearly as much as I used to. I am not as reliable as I used to be...

Regarding the snow, it is sort of hit or miss. The west side is getting bare again. Here is a shot from yesterday:

However, the north and east sides seem to still have a fair amount of snow, aside from the ever-present glaciers.
