Bump because fall is not over, at least not last weekend above Hope Valley on the way to Armstrong Pass.

Yes, that's the trail. The pictures were taken in the first 2-3 miles; the first one is looking down over Willow Creek from the road. There are fewer aspens higher up.

Lots of leaf-peeping alternatives around Hope Valley, including some at lower elevations if leaves have fallen where we were.

More from Hope Valley. The whole area from Kirkwood, to Carson Pass, to Hope Valley is one of the best outdoor playgrounds in any season

Yes, it's still Autumn - even with 2" of fresh snow in the Buttermilks.

We were thankful to find a little late autumn snow at Courtright, Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, and Kaiser Wilderness before this week's deep freeze and additional snow.

Into the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness...

...onward to Kaiser Loop Trail and Peak...

...and then southward to Thanksgiving we went.

Despite less snow, automobile access to Jennie Lakes Wilderness was basically limited to the General's Highway with the gate to Big and Horse Corral Meadows locked. A quick post-Thanksgiving hike to view the Silliman Crest was still within easy reach from Stoney Creek.
