Search on Mt Baldy for hiker Sam Kim - 78 years old

http://www.dailybulletin.com/general-ne ... aldy-hikerI've just been made aware that Sam Kim the 78 year old hiker that has 700 summits of Mount Baldy has been missing since Sat morning on the mountain. If anyone has news of seeing him on Sat please reach out to SAR, there's at least 18 - 20 folks out looking now. Word has it that he has a few shortcuts but I'm not aware of them, if you are friends with Sam an have hiked with him please let us know if you know any of those shortcuts? Thanks, hope they find him soon.

My wife and I met him on the Ski Hut trail in February 2015 and he was a very nice outgoing person to speak with. We took some photos with him and he really loved hiking up Baldy. I hope he is found soon and alive and healthy.

The sheriffs found a body on the north side of Baldy and they think it must be Sam Kim. What a sad ending, at least he was at the place he loved to be, almost 800 ascents of Mt Baldy is impressive. He said he had hiked Iron Mtn 100 times in one year, the guy was one strong hiker. Who knows what happened up there, but I am glad I got to meet him once on the trail that he loved so much.

I gotta say... people like this are truly inspiring. I know a couple that has summited Baldy over 300 times and they continue to do it, well into their 60's. While I never met Mr. Kim, it's people like me (half his age!) that need this kind of inspiration to keep pushing the envelope and never, NEVER let age defy your dreams.

Doesn't seem very sad to me. Seventy-eight years was a good run, and he died on a mountain he clearly loved.
A sad ending would be drowning in a hospital bed from pneumonia, or being eaten alive by cancer. You know, the endings most of us have to look forward to.

I only met Sam once, but he seemed as awesome as everyone describes him. Hope he is resting easy somewhere.
