Looking for some beta regarding Humphreys Peak... snow on the mountain? conditions (probable conditions) of the Weatherford Trail? I live in Glendale and was planning a climb via the Weatherford Trail tomorrow (10-8). Any information from locals in the area would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There definately is snow up there, was going to take a picture of it this morning but by the time I got to a good perspective the dawn light had moved on . It snowed yesterday 10/6, and they said it may snow a bit today. They were predicting 6" up there and it looks like there easily could be that. I would say the snow level is around 8000ft.

Just returned from Flag, where it was snowing.

So, that puts the snow level at 6,910 feet. The Peaks were completely obscured in clouds, and the "college kids" were showing off their winter wear ..

Hard to see right now, but it looks like the snow line is pretty far down

Yes, I was inquiring about Humphreys Peak in northern Arizona (near Flagstaff). Thank you to all the respondents. Since I'm new to AZ my follow-up question is whether the snow that recently fell on Humphreys might melt off in the next few weeks or if it's there to stay until next spring/summer? I know in Colorado once the snow hits the upper elevations it's there to stay. Same with snowfall on Humphreys Peak? Obviously any possible melt off would be dependent on the weather so I guess I'm asking if that's a "normal" possibility at this time of year? Thanks again!

I'll let "Lionel" answer, being that he's better at bare-bone statistics, charts and graphs ..

If you ask me, think it ALL depends on the Snow Gods ..

I'm planning on climbing Humphreys this Tuesday or Wednesday (Oct 25th or 26th). Has there been any additional snow on the mountain since earlier in the month? The weather forecast for the Flagstaff area looks mild this week so I'm hoping for good hiking/climbing conditions. I'd appreciate any condition updates that locals in the Flag area would care to share. I'm still planning on climbing via the Weatherford Trail. Thanks!

I don't live in Flag, but I was up there last week visiting friends, and the only snow remaining was on the top 1/3 of Humphreys and Agassiz.

Don't predict you're have a problem with snow, buddy.

Hi - figured I would bump this thread instead of starting a new...

I'll be out there in a couple weeks... and am interested in both more recent conditions... and advise.

Is the snow up there melting off at all... or is it falling and sticking for the season now... and along those lines...

Will the trail conditions in early Dec (typically) be better suited for snowshoes by then?

I'm coming out from NJ... and would preffer to leave the SSs behind if the there is ~no~ chance I will be able to use them... [but will want them along if (typical) conditions are getting more favorable for their use..].

Thanks for any info / advise...

Thanks for the info... Sounds like I'll leave the SS's behind... and maybe just bring along the micro-spikes in case of ice or any other need for traction....
