Want to go to Mt. Grant?

Completing Nevada's county highpoints would be a piece of cake with the exception of Mt. Grant which lies on property owned by the US Army. Last September fellow highpointers put together the first ever Mt. Grant Challenge, a charity event that let's you get to the summit of Mt. Grant with the cooperation of the US Army and a bevy of volunteers from the lovely nearby town of Hawthorne. They're doing it again this year, Sept 7. I had great fun doing it last year and would highly recommend it to anyone not wanting to do this one stealth-like up Lapon Canyon...

Bob,

Thinking about doing a individual-entry run to the top. Does the trip up typically include a ride back down in a vehicle?

Thanks for posting!

Update: got an email back from the event directors...

"The event does include a ride from the top back to the bottom once you complete the challenge."

Why is it on a Friday? Makes it tougher to take off work. I would be interested if September 8

The event IS on September 8th. Some of the earlier posts said September 7th I presume because the sign-in is from 4pm to 8pm on September 7th. My confirmation letter indicated that you can pick up your packet (or sign in) between 6:00 and 6:30 am on race day, September 8th at the starting line which is located at Cottonwood Drive and US 95, 12.4 miles north of Hawthorne. Hope you can make it.
