Thinking of heading out to Guadalupe Mountains to summit Guadalupe and Bush mtns in 2 or 3 weeks (Nov 1 or 8th). Anyone been up there after the floods? (or during the shutdown? :o haha)

I will be there this weekend Nov. 9-10. Reports are the main trail up Guadalupe is fine. Can't speak to Bush Mtn. If you are there look for the group of "old folks" in the Pine Springs CG on Saturday evening and say hi.

Awesome! I'll be heading out from Dallas Thursday afternoon (11/07) hiking up to Bush Friday morning, spending the night then spending Saturday night at Guadalupe Peak! I'll make sure to say hi to everyone I see (it'll be a solo trip so i'll try to make a few friends along the way). I'll be the one with the bright yellow backpack 8)

FC, Sorry I did not run into you. It was a beautiful and crowded weekend at Guadalupe. We had a wonderful hike up the peak on Saturday and "camped" in my friend's pickup in the RV area on Saturday evening. The tent camping was completely filled. Neat park and great mountains!

Yea I arrived Thursday night/Friday morning at 12:30 and I car camped in my car that night. Friday morning I hiked up to Bush and came down Saturday morning to find out all the sites were filled up at Pine Springs. Very busy weekend! I had to end my trip early due to a fall on some of those thorny bushes. I had 7 punctures overall in my left rear end and my hand and was able to pull all the little suckers except one. I had to go to the ER Tuesday evening to get the remaining 1" thorn out of my butt. Overall it was a great trip, but sad that I was not able to summit Guadalupe. I'm planning on going back in spring to hike up the peak. But I agree with you, it is a great park with some amazing vistas. On my way up to Bush mountain through the Tejas trail, you can see down towards devils hall and it was just amazing. Definitely worth the drive from Dallas!

Sorry about your incident with the thorny bushes. Agree with you on those awesome sights and the Tejas trail. Planning to hike again probably early spring and this time with a hiking buddy.
