Hi everyone,

Ill be in Nevada in November, and was thinking of taking some days off bouldering in Red Rock to go grab a high point or two - can anyone comment on the climability of Wheeler or Boundary peak around then?

Thanks

Both peaks will be full winter conditions but access to them, rather than technical climbing, would be your main problem. The Wheeler Peak scenic drive, the road from the Vis Center to the TH parking lot is already closed beyond Upper Lehman CG and would probably be closed lower by then so you would be forced to make a much longer trek through the snow to get to the peak itself. You could check the current conditions page at the GBNP website for road closures and snow levels. http://www.nps.gov/grba/planyourvisit/current-conditions.htm There is light snow falling in GBNP right now.
You probably have a better chance with Boundary since the Whites are much drier in the winter (relative to Sierra to the west). I have not driven the Boundary peak area dirt roads during the winter so I can't say how much snow you may encounter, but the Trail Canyon TH is appx 8000'. Although it is some distance away, you could get a general idea of the weather in Boundary area by going to WMRS website http://www.wmrs.edu/weather/default.htm which gives weather for the areas surrounding White Mtn CA.
