I just put up Turk Mountain. Turk Mountain is located in the southern part of Shenandoah National Park. It is actually one of the best hikes in the park.

Rob: The Bonticou Crag is private land, and the landowner has closed it to climbers. Your picture is the cliff above the golf course, which is a different area. If you are going to post about it--which is also against the specific and real policy AGAINST publicizing or providing topos for Bonticou, LC and other 'outback' crags of the Mohonk Preserve--please do include caveats that climbing is not allowed at this crag. You might want to talk to Hank Alicandri at the preserve about your efforts.

Well, gunks.com generally has a page up about where it's legal to climb, but they're offline right now, as is the local affiliate of the Access Fund, the gunks climbers coalition.

Call the Preserve at (845) 255-0919 and ask them. Hank Alicandri is the Head Ranger.

I'm sorry, I will be glad to contribute information to legal areas, but I'm not going to give an iota of information that could ruin access efforts underway in the area. There is a reason that the guidebook to Skytop is out of print, and I don't see this any differently. I realize that my view is probably in the minority here, but it's how I feel after spending some hours on access issues and developing the relationship with local land managers.

I could not find anything that said that Bonticou was closed so I did not sayanything about it. The route I was talking about was the scramble which IS an estlablished route

No, all of those pictures were taken on Bonticou by me.

Not that I am doubting you but do you know of a website with all the rules? I would like t see all of the rules.
