When's it coming in? More to the point, when are Hunt and Tuck gonna be climbable?

Check Leaf's "request for photos" thread on VFTT. In case you hadn't noticed, it's a frickin' heat wave right now. All bets are off until the weather returns to normal. Normally most of the routes would be in (if a little on the thin side) by now. Heck, they're climbable now if you like wet rock and falling ice.

Dude...I had a Tucks headwall trip planned for a year...for THIS WEEKEND. NEice had info about Pinnacle Gully (in Huntington Ravine) going in MID-OCTOBER!! At which point I was super-psyched. Then we get the friggin' heat wave...

I'm dyin' heah...!!!

Well that blows. Next week I'm free, but the following week gets into kids' concerts and pre-Christmas hoo-hah. Might hafta get up there b/w Christmas and New Year's then...

All I can say is that we'd better have a damned cold Jan/Feb/Mar.

Anybody want to hit Mt. Washington the week between Xmas and NYE?

I was up on Washington yesterday scouting out the ravines for ice. There was certainly plenty of ice, but I don't know how safe it would have been given the most recent temps! If the cold air sticks around this time, I'd say those ravines will be good to climb in the next week. I'm hoping to get back up there in the next week or 2 with my tools. I just hope I make it up there before the gullies get hit with too much snow!

Although I'm still waiting for the ice, I can say is that it was a GREAT day on that mountain...2mp winds on the summit and only the slightest breeze from the alpine gardens and above...

A little more beta here. (Apparently Central went, though it was thin.)

I was in hunt ravine with Leaf on sunday - we did central - it was dicey, thin, hollow, not really in and about as thin as it could be, This being said, it was generally ok - some nice neve, thin ice - but enough to take tools and pons for the most part.. no protection possible really, unless you fucked around looking for rock pro. we didn't bother and just cruised the route. Good few places where the tools were hitting rock under about 1/2 inch of ice... but you can generally find solid ice to sink em.

fun day - full conditions... nice way to start the season...

the approach is what it is... it sucks with no snow cover down low to voer the boulders, but worth it to climb. that being said - its gonna be high avy for today and likely tommorow... but the snow will help the climbs and make approach better... never know could be better by weekend...

I can't say it was the safest I have seen central.. There was also more ice (tho thin as hell) in there than I have ever seen (been in central about 5 times over the last few years)

odells was climbed as well by a couple parties.. spoke with one of the guys coming down - the bottom took screws - thats all i got.

The Black Dike has gone, finally. I know, its not on Washington, but this is a late first of the season ascent and for me, ice season is now here!

The word from Neclimbs is that Huntington is finally IN. Looks like Frankie and North End Cathedral will be in this weekend as well.

Heading up Jan 8-10 (weather permitting). Two of us so far. Shoot me a PM if anyone else planning that weekend. Would be great to meet some SP'ers there.
