I am looking for some challenging routes on Mt. Washington, in The Whites and Adirondacks. I would really like to get on some ice. I also here the Chimney on Katahdin is a nice route. Just moved back from Colorado for a couple years and looking to find some good eastern challenges. Anyone offering any beta on routes I should check out? Anyone want to climb?

I have used the search and came up with some good results. But some of the routes have no descriptions and seem pretty inconclusive. Just trying to do a little networking and find out about some different places to climb in the eastern part of the states.

What grade routes are you looking for?

Two good guidebooks you should pick up:
Lewis and Wilcox - An Ice Climber's Guide to Northern New England
Mellor - Blue Lines: An Adirondack Ice Climber's Guide

New England ice routes aren't big on here, probably because they are covered well in these guidebooks.

Thanks for the info, impressive photos of Peru! I was climbing down there in March. Not the best time to be down there. It was cold, snowing, and beautiful. We climbed a high mountain pass because weather did not permit any summits. But we passed
Nevado Chopicalqui, Palcaraju, Urus, Ishinca and many others.

Huntington Ravine on Mount Washington has several nice, long alpine ice climbs in the 1-3+ range. I posted a reports on Pinnacle, Yale and Damnation Gullies here on SP. For pure ice check out Frankenstien Cliff, Crawford Notch, Franconia Notch, Cathedral Ledge and Katahdin in Maine.

Check out http://www.neice.com. It has a ton of information on ice climbing in the Northeast. The forums will mention which trails are broken out, which routes are in, etc.

Also check http://www.neclimbs.com for weekly condition reports, some route descriptions, photos, etc.

Any of you have information on Gaspe Peninsula, Canada? Chic Choc? Skiing? Climbing? or any good non ice climbs? I was looking for a guide book but could only find http://www.tourisme-gaspesie.com/en/escalade.html

Huntington Ravine looks great! Also, Katahdin do you still need at least 4 people to climb? I have read and heard there are some strict regulations on the climbing going on up there.

Are you a member on VFTT? If not, I recommend you join. It's a great Eastern climbing/hiking forum. The guys there can answer all your questions about New England/New York.

And also adkhighpeaks.com is a great resource for the ADK's.
