I've been to Snowshoe in WVA, Wintergreen in VA, and Whitetail (in PA, but close to DC if that makes sense) for snowboarding - all are good. No info on NC.

Keep an eye on the immediate weather forecast and pick the closest hill would be my advice. Unless there is a good storm somewhere else, the conditions (machine snow) will be identical.

FYI - nothing much is open yet, it's been warm.

http://www.skisoutheast.com/resort_locations.htm

www.tripadvisor.com

this site is nice. it lets you select north carolina from the list and then a list of resorts will show up. if i had to choose a resort i would use skisoutheast along with trip advisor to help make the best decision. pick a resort from skisoutheast then type it in trip advisor to get guest reviews and photos.. atlease for the lodging part. the ski site has all of the trail maps, acreage, and features information to seal the deal. hope that helps. have fun

If your snowboarding...
