Finally a snow storm worth it's salt.

A few years ago they cancelled school here for 3 days and it only snowed 1.5 inches. (I'm not joking!)

Wonder how long school will be closed now?!

SNOW is on the way here to NJ. Has happened yet, but 100% it's going to be coming.

Well, the snow is up past my knee. !!! Even this Yankee is impressed.
(obviously) haven't lost power yet.

I thought of setting up my tent and sleeping outside tonight! snow is too fluffy for a snow cave.

:-D

OK. I lost the ruler that I went out with. Went back in for the yardstick.

My official recording is 19.2 inches from the front yard. (paying attention to my significant figures, the overbar on the 2)

:-D

Last I measured here in Alexandria, we were at 15 inches; probably get another 2 or 3 inches when it's all done. I've done enough shoveling for today!

I'm in Reston, Northern Virginia and we've got about 22 inches, finally!

We've got 19 inches in Falls Church so far! The schools are almost certainly going to close. I'm wondering about the Government. We Feds have only had snow days twice (in 2000 and 2002) since I moved to the DC area in 1996. Happy Holidays!

I went out and shoveled the driveway again (3rd time for part of it) and took a couple of measurements in the front yard (fairly level): 22 and 21 inches (550 and 525 mm).

I'm in northern Montgomery County, MD and we have close to 24 inches. We shoveled the heat pump twice and used the snow blower twice today on our 250 foot driveway but we have at least six inches to get rid of tomorrow.

But what a great storm! So much better than the one two weeks ago!

I had to get out my winter camping wear to stay outside it was so chilly and windy!

Went out to Great Falls a few hours ago. Very nice.

Hoping to get out to Shenandoah in a few days. Whiteoak Canyon or Old Rag in snow may be calling.

23'' here in Philly too.

Actually wore my gaters and moutnaineering boots to make the 2 mile round trip to Macy's last night in the blizzard. It was the closest thing to a mountaineering experience that I've had in 6 months...

Shenandoah National Park sounds SO GOOD right now, Bob!!! Be sure to post some photos, if you make it out there!

I went hiking up McAfees Knob yesterday in the snow without snowshoes. Man was that exhausting. It's gorgeous out there though.
