Geez, when I was a young punk roaming around Red River Gorge, we worried more about drunk hillbillies, stray bullets or stumbling onto someone's cash crop. Fending off an enraged bear with a 3-inch pocket nife? Not so much!

"I was chomped on by a bear, and he was a bad bear, but that doesn't speak of all bears."

Peladoboton, I wanna read that!!

Sucks that they closed a whole bunch of the red down. Pisses me off that people are like why do I care, because I'm a boulderer. I only have a ton of friends who go there and it's a major climbing spot.

the scary thing about blackies is, when they attack it usually means they want to eat you. Since they are scavengers, they will go for the easiest meal garbage, carcasses, slow moving animals, veggies........

I was looking at the photos that the guy took of the bear shortly before it attacked him and it certainly looks larger than 150 pounds.

And from what I understand, if a black bear acts like that...stalks and attacks...then it's definitely out to kill and eat you. None of this attack and escape shit. Sometimes they just want to score a big stack of protein and calories, and a human body fits that description. Plus we're easy to kill.
