NYC Meet up?

While not known for its mountains, lots of SPers live near NYC. Any interest in a meet up? I'll let others suggest times, dates, activities, but I'd imagine a quick climb up say High Point, NJ, Mount Marcy, or Fissel, or Greylock (all within 2 hours) might be a nice addition.

Albany isn't too far. There's a bunch of NYCers that could take charge here.

I'd propose a weekend, but am up for either.

I'm interested, but likely booked for adventures until mid-fall. My wife still needs to go to High Point, NJ, so that would definitely be of interest and is close enough to us that could be a day trip. Catskills are also a nice place that I would like to get back to some day soon (Hunter Mtn, perhaps?).

Well, that's three of us. :)

Perhaps the others in the NYC metropolitan area can chime in whether they would go or not. SP gets a bit slow this time of year, so the lack of replies could be due to that rather than lack of interest. :)

I could be up for the Trap Dike if schedule permits.

hey everyone.. We have tons of fun hikes (local area and further) in our hiking meetup group .. http://www.meetup.com/hvhikers

This weekend for example, on Sunday we're hiking Schunnemunk mountain,
a really cool rock formation overlooking the Hudson River.

Frightened Summer in ebbing escape
Alarum of rainbow leaves drift south
With a prophesy of cold white
SPers, convene!

As a kick-off suggestion, based on the comments above, I'd like to begin with Mt. Marcy, Sept 20-22. I'm in NYC, and will be driving up, so the out of their element cityfolk can join me.

Anyone else? I'm definitely not the organizer type. Maybe move it forward a week or two?

will probably be around if weather is good
dunno about Marcy as I have done it, but I guess it could be fun to re-do as a group

Didn't seem to happen. :(

I climbed Marcy 3 weeks ago. It was a tough one; did most of it solo. The running and cardio helped lots.

Anyway, I'm still game for something, although realistically after 1/1/14 (on which I do the Polar Bear swim), which while smack in the middle of winter could be fun.
