I tried a few sizes of each, none of which seem to fit well. The Millets definitely seem more comfortable, but no matter what size I try my heel is just swimming, 1/2" of heel lift no matter what I do, the toebox and rest of the boot feels great. I"ve tried a million combinations of socks and different lacing/straping techniques.

I've never had a problem fitting boots before, including 2 other pair of double boots I've used over the years and tons of hiking boots, so frustrating, so I apologize for the bazillionth thread about boots

Anyone have problems fitting these boots or have any suggestions?

Something that helped me in my decidedly less big boots was the green super feets. Go down to A16 and they will cut and trim them to your boot for free. They helped me a lot with locking down the heel and actually help with balance too.

I had the same issue with my Spantiks. A brief trip to a (great) boot fitter, a new footbed and $20.00 later, issue solved. Scott

If you do go with the Millet Everest, be aware that they pack down a lot after a few days use. So if your heel is swimming now, it will get worse. OlyMons also pack down, but not as much as Millets. I have both - the Millets were just too sloppy on my heel for anything other than walking, hopeless for anything approaching frontpointing.

The OlyMons fit narrower, but the Millets are probably a little warmer, so it depends just what you want them for. If you go the Millets you should wear them around the house to pack them down a little before you go fitting after-market insoles in them.

Damien, thanks for the info, I was afraid of that. I really want to use these boots but maybe it just won't work out. Anyone have any experience with the Scarpa Phantom 8000s?
