Rick, that's too bad about your knee. Cycling and trout fishing are still OK by the doctor, I hope?

Buy this stuff! The Chief takes care of his gear and is a straight shooter. Good stuff, too - Grivel all the way!

Scar tissue and Arthritis has set in after my Fib Dislocation Repair procedure last Spring. Nothing can be done due to the nature of the injury. Range of motion has been reduced almost 35% since my surgery and Doc says that unless I drastically moderate my climbing adventures and the manner I exert it, it can in fact get worse. And, due to the nature of the injury, I will push more on my right knee thus potentially damaging it over time from over exertion.

It is the nature of the beast and life must go on. Thank God I have my fly rods and all them different trout all over my neighborhood that want to play catch.

At the rate things are happening out there in the "Climbing World", it is a far more peaceful world, fly fishing at my very secret holes and streams. It is time to join the ranks of them great Troutmen out there....

Rick,

I had surgery for prostate cancer in June 2009. I found this quote in my readings.

“Even when a cure is not possible, healing always is. You see, a cure involves our physical body. Healing involves that inner process of the mind and the spirit.
“There are people who are cured but are never healed. And then there are people who are healed even though they are not cured.
“That is the good news given to us — that healing is possible for every one of us regardless of our physical health.”

Chief, I just saw this, very sad news indeed. I can imagine how hard it must be for you. Hope you will still be around here (it is hard to imagine SP without you), and wish you good luck with the fishing!

You can still hike and scramble and shit though, right?

Oh, I will be doing tons of that to get to some of my choicest fishing holes.

Amazingly, this is a grand opportunity to actually see them hills and enjoy them for what they are and not for what they can give me as far as a route or a climb.

It will also allow me more ops to go out with my Wife. She loves to throw a fly in the stream and catch them little Brookie and Golden buggers.

Whole new perspective on life... whole new challenge. The way I like it actually.
