I know that the similar question was asked b efore, but I have to angsk nevertheless.
Are there any recommendations on the cold weather sleeping bag to expeditions above 6000 m (e.g. Aconcagua)? The average new price for these items sis ~$700.

I've taken an Eastern Mountain Sports MM0 (0F) bag on Aco several times. Bought it new on ebay for $49.

REI Kilo -20 was great on Denali. A little warm for me!

I think it is the same bag with a different name the old model was the kilo expedition-20. I think they eliminated the kilo when they got rid of the kilo plus 0 (good bag) and the sub-kilo 20+. Wish I had the other two bags also but one bag is all I can afford. A budy of mine had the kilo expedition but took it back and got a feathered friends bag. He likes his new one better.

Yes, same bag. I got it at a 25% off sale. After the rebate at year-end worked out to a good price. It is a very warm and reasonably light bag. I also looked at FF but the cost pushed me away. My tenmates had the FF and we all equally warm at 17k. I was going to sell it after Denali (at least that is what I told my bride!) but have now decided to keep it since I liked it so much. (Plus, i am going back to Denali in May)

+5* bag for Denali ? Dunno if I'd do that.

I have been looking at Valandre for while, but +5 is light. I have been using light sleeping bags when the condition whay below the recommended temperature rating with extra clothes. It works for the short trips, but for multi-day trip, this will not work.

I have a feathered friends and love it. It just so happened I have an extra Ptarmigan that has been "overfilled" to hit a -40 rating. It has a goretex-type (activant?) shell, weights 4# 6 ozs, and is in great shape - was only used on a few climbs. I have just remembered that I have a Mountain Hardware card for friends and family store. Any opiniions on MH Wraith or Ghost?

I have MH King Tut, predecessor to Wraith. Liked it so well on Denali that I decided to keep it rather then unload it after returning. Though I do see that the Wraith doesn't have the bag expander feature that mine has, which I really like. While lighter options exist, they won't be anywhere near half off on the Wraith...guess it is somewhat dependent on how much coin you want to drop.

Hey Rinat, I have the Marmot CWM -40 that I'll sell for $450. I think I paid $600 for it and used it only on one trip to Denali. Been sitting in the closet the last two years.
