That is capitalism at its zenith! There is so much profit margin in this product, the guy/gal who bought it from you prob sold it again! sort of like a mini pyramid scheme.

if you ever go to the dead bird outlet sale they have at their factory store ....

you'll notice that the vast majority of them are asian ... now granted there is a large asian population ... but of the line up that stretches for 4 hours its my guess that 70% are asian ...

now as far as I can tell they are there for 2 reasons
1. to buy it because dead bird must be good because its so expensive retail ... and it complements their BMWs, Lexus, mercedes perfectly ... you know you need that dead bird alpha SV to deal with the deadly vancouver rain
2. to resell online ... quick way to turn a buck as any self respecting asian would do

nothing wrong with either ... you do have to turn a buck and you should look yuppie to your fellow friends at sushi brunch ....

im surprised that i dont do that myself ... must not have inherited the right capitalistic genes ;)

I'm sure your right. For instance, I bought one for 150.00. I then sold it for 260.00 off ebay. The retail is 300.00 for it, so even if the person who bought it from me and sold it, the 40.00 he presumably made was still worth his while and trouble from buying from me.

Personally I don't care what gear I use as long as it doesn't get in the way of what I am doing. It has to do the job I am expecting it to but I shouldn't have to think about it. When I am climbing, the only thing I want to concentrate on is climbing, not fiddling around with gear. Simplicity is important.,

Although I don't own any Arcteryx gear, this thread is just about enough to make me go buy a fluorescent orange shell with their logo on it just to irritate some of the folks who have their panties all bunched up

Just wanted to let you know that I was disgusted by your racist remarks. FYI: I'm neither asian nor politically correct.

Who are these folks who spend $500 on jackets and $800 on sleeping bags? Do they climb routes above 5.6? If we invented a premium titanium plated cam and charged $300 per for it, would they buy it?

Two words: Pro deal. When I was starving ski and rock bum, that was how I got all my stuff...or through trades at places like REI shops. I would say "five finger discounts" as well, but that would be wrong of me.
