I'm looking for some advice on getting a new pack. I'm need a small pack, probably between 20 - 30 liters that I can wear when I go climbing. I'd also like to be able to use it for my short bike commute. So I'm thinking that I'd like something more than a small summit pack, something that has gear loops on the hipbelt, ice axe holder, and a crampon pouch/patch.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I've got one of the Scramblers, and it seems to work as a summit pack and for light duty pretty well. It won't take much abrasion without taking damage. The framesheet in it works decently, but it isn't made for heavier loads, by any means. The straps are thin and the waist strap is....not suitable for providing any support. I like mine, and it works well for what I use it for (I use it to go to the grocery store on my bike for small trips periodically and things like that). Other folks on here have voiced their opinions too. There's also a Super Scrambler, which is sturdier, but I've never seen one, and there was a thread awhile back conjecturing on what it was really like in practice. It might be more down your alley though.

The Super Scrambler also looks nice, but is much larger at 50-55 liters.

ive got the petzl bug great bag a light wight at 18L but very versatile:

the bug is bomber! draped with webbing along the middle which works surprisingly well for runners gear and such on the bottom you got two straps which are meant for hauling your rope, also works well with ice axes
(the adjustable straps along the side catch the axe while the head rests in the rope straps.)

The REI Flash 30 meets your requirements, except for gear loops on the hipbelt (not a big deal for me as I've been able to adjust the pack so the belt doesn't block my harness). I've had one for several years and it's held up well.

Wild things guide pack is light, small, and very durable. Been a great hiking/day climbing pack for me.
