What are the best gloves against cold you have had? What is the brand and the model?
You would be more helpful if you mention the approximate lowest temperatures or the place and the season in which you have used them.

I don't even know why they bother with the separate thumb, boxing gloves have more dexterity than many HA mitts.

I like Alti mitts outers with Alti Glove liners as a cold weather system. Using the leashes, i can whip off the mitts when required to do fiddly stuff, then flick 'em back on. Well in theory.

Depends if you just want something warm to walk along with, or dextrous enough to manipulate gear with. Mitts are warm but clumsy, as Mr Radson says. If you have to keep taking them off to fiddle with things your hands will get cold.

Also depends if you're day tripping or multi-day trips. If you have to dry it in a tent then a removable liner will help, not such a problem if you're back in your warm house at night.

BTW, it's pretty much impossible to find the perfect cold weather climbing glove. On an actual long, cold climb I might take three or four pairs of gloves. I don't sweat much, some do. Some people have particularly bad circulation. There's a lot of variance between people for gloves.

The best gloves I've owned are a pair of Lowe Alpine Gant gloves. Primaloft insulated, leather palms, Triple Point Ceramic W/B material. Warm and dexterous. Great for ice climbing in cold weather. I used these on summit day on Denali in early June (perhaps -10/-15 F). I brought Marmot Expedition mittens, but didn't need them. I've had these for nearly a decade and they are going strong, doubt they still make them but they, or another manufacturer, may have something similar.

My biggest peeve with most every glove is liners that pull out when you remove your hand from the glove.

This isn't a problem when you're trying them on in the store, but when my hands get a little sweaty, and I try to take the glove off, the liner often will come out, usually inside out. A real pain.

Most warm gloves have removable liners, so it seems like I can't get away from this problem.

+1 I wear a pair of thin polypro liners so my damp sticky hands don't turn the liners of my heavy gloves inside out when I remove them.

I have the OR firebrands and love em. My hands are ALWAYS cold and they are the only glove thats worked for me when it is actually cold out.

Yes thats the ones, if you look you can find them for around $200 though. It's not too bad they are big gloves dont get me wrong but I was suprised at how little I had to take them off.

I got them for around 200 at backcountry.com but they are out.

Mountain Hardwear Typhon Glove
Used on multiple winter ascents. Lowest temp I used them in was -9 with a 50+mph wind on Berthoud Pass. I am warm blooded and have rarely had cold hands or feet.

I have used the Typhon a lot in some pretty cold temps. Firebrand is a whole nother animal. No comparison for warmth. Firbrand being a lot warmer. And about the same dexterity wise. But make no mistake the Firebrand is a BIG glove.

Depends on the "mission" as posts above have hit on. This season I've used the Black Diamond Specialist. Warm, waterproof with snow, & pretty good dexterity. Still have to take them off to tie knots but otherwise great glove.
