Has anyone had experience with these? How do they compare with the standard MREs'? Light weight, easy to prepare, and calorie dense all sound good... I wonder what the side effects are?

The Army said the FSR substantially reduces weight and load and is intended to enhance a consumer's physical performance, mental acuity, and mobility.

I bet money that they also enhance one's ability to have a bowel movement... :o

I've heard differently from enlisted folks. One extreme example being a fella who lived on the standard MREs for two weeks, and didn't take a dump for a week and a half. He needed medical attention and fancy mining equipment. You've got to hydrate and follow them up with fiber if you want to stay anything close to regular, Combat Readiness is compromised when taking a poo.
I never eat them for more than 2 days at a time.
