Rumor is that Assad used them against rebel forces in Syria, but since coolzies are not yet listed in the Geneva protocols the Administration is not ready to say that a "red line" has been crossed.

Those products use neoprene or foam. Aerogel performs about 10x better than neoprene and 3x better than foam as thermal insulation. Price is 10 to 25 dollars depending on the size. So about the same price as the others but performs much better. I have and use some of the products in your picture.

The aerogel Coolzie that injured me and damaged my gear didn't perform any better than neoprene or foam. Much worse in fact.

Turns out you can cut up a space blanket and stick it inside a regular foam lining at it performs 6x better than aerogel anyway.

What's more, foam lined with Mylar costs less than a couple of dollars per unit, which is 25x cheaper than these overpriced models!

And then there is the weight. Most outdoors folks would pay more for a product that is more effective and weighs less, but the foam and Mylar wins there too. The aerogel Coolzie is over 3x as heavy!

Mrchad9...still waiting for your proof. Also care to show any evidence for your numbers. The specs I posted on the aerogel insulation support mine.

I find all the insulation data confusing, but if Randy Watson and Sexual Chocolate all own Coolzies, so should we. Coolzies have uses most of us have yet to imagine and used ones will be cheap.

Per the website, it appears that 25% of the proceeds from this product go to funding alpine expeditions, clearly in violation of SP policies. Consider this a warning.
