Tell me what your favorite one man/solo tent is. Especially if it's UL and freestanding.. and even if you don't own one. I currently have the SD Iota and the MSR Hubba. But want something new this season.

I bought a Nemo Gogo last summer for UL solo trips, not really knowing what to expect.
I'm VERY pleased with it. Takes up practically no space in my pack. And the great part...there's no poles!!! An airtube and whatever sticks ya find
on the ground. I was hesitant at first, but the thing is truly solid.
I really need to look at more Nemo tents.

Not freestanding... but the BD BetaLight is the best purchase I have ever made.

I have a clip Flashlight (Sierra Designs) that I used for years and really liked. Only 3 lbs. too. My only gripe was that it is not freestanding. Perfect size for solo missions though.

I have a BD Betamid (not the lite version, it adds a pound but is less expensive and more durable). I love it and use it for 95% of my climbs in the lower 48 and Canada. Again, not free standing but worth it for the weight, versatility, room and cost. If cost is not an option, I have a Integral Designs MK1 Lite that I like. At 3 3/4 pounds and $500 it is more expensive and heavier, but is freestanding and is as bomb proof a tent as you will find. I also used a Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight and really liked it. The design was really excellent.

I packed a MSR Hubba for several years before switching to a Terra Nova Solar Photon 1. Great tent! Light weight, holds up better with snowfall, and guys out for windy conditions.

The Hilleberg Akto is really one of my favorite solo tents. It seems quite burly and more comfortable than a bivy.
