I'm staying in Palmer Lake, not Denver. A quick look online showed that the elevation of Palmer Lake is 7,297 ft. I will be sleeping there 3 days before the hike so I guess that should help me a bit.

given that you will be spending 3 days at 7000ft, you shouldn't have that much problem between 7k and 10 or 11K ft if you are hiking as long as you stay hydrated. Just be cognizant of altitude sicknesses as you would as any other trip.

I'm usually pretty prone to altitude sickness. Generally, I tend to do alright if I eat lots (before and during activity), sleep well, hydrate well and take it "easy" on day 1. With three days sleep at 7k', you shouldn't have any problems.

Earlier post mentioned gingko. I tried it for the first time two years ago. Summited eight 14ers during my annual week in Colorado. Tried it again last year. Only summited four. Eh. Maybe it's like racehorses and lasix. Works miracles the first time and after that just so so.
