I do stair master workouts occasionally if i have a busy school week. (which is every damn week lately)

Generally, ill use a 2 pound ankle weight on each ankle and a 40lb pack for an hour. And every 5 minutes i'll do 3 minutes of skipping a step so i end up taking really long steps.

Speed varies on how i feel

Intervals is a fairly obvious one. I tend to do intervals quite a bit on the stairmaster. 1 minute at pace where the last 10 seconds hurt and 1 minute at a restful pace where I've regained my breath by the last 10 seconds. 1 hours of that is a great workout.

Really depends what kind of climbs you are training for scrapers...

If you are training for an expedition 5-6 gallons of water in your pack and have at it for 1-2 hours with a pace that would drain you. If you are training for fast and light 1-2 hours without weight going maximum speed u can maintain is good. I like hills type of workout with fast stretches alternating with stretches to catch your breath. Best is actual hills though. I have a hill with 2.2K of elevation gain (Mission peak). When I was training for Denali I would go up it multiple times in a day with 6 gallons, although I haven't one much of it, and still feel like I was over prepared lol.
