Lolo Peak: Yet another backcountry fatality...

A skier killed in a GNP avalanche in April; another Mount Hood tragedy; a young man killed on Colorado's Little Bear: seems there have been too many of these this year! Now this one:

Lolo Peak Fatality

Don't know what happened, but Lolo Peak is a popular back country ski destination, and is one of the few mountains in the area with relatively little avalanche danger. The article makes clear that cause of death is unknown, but doesn't (from my reading) seem to have been an avalanche. Victim was apparently experienced, to the point of making sure family and friends knew where he was headed, and when he expected to return.

RIP

Here's the link

(Much more information available than in the first post above—he was in more difficult terrain than the "normal" back country ski areas on the mountain; an avalanche may have played a role.)

Sad.
