Planning for my annual Sept visit to Glacier and had a few ?'s re: some cross country routes.

1. Is it possible to attain Nahsukin area from Grace lake ( with a large pack)?
2. From Jefferson Pass Edwards explains in his book about folks who dropped down to Francis from the valley between the guardhouse and porcupine ridge, but says it was super steep and scary , anyone done this?
3. Is the Norris traverse pretty intuiative or does it require finding just the right goat trails?
4. Is Iceberg Notch going to be scary to my guests who may not be used to off trail hiking?

There is a good amount of Class 3 scrambling with the possibility of a little Class 4 here and there. The route is not as complicated as Edwards makes it sound, and I did not think there was much exposure. However, experience tells me that people not used to off-trail travel interpret exposure and difficult climbing very differently than those of us used to it do.

I do have a page here for Iceberg Notch if you want to look at photos and route details: http://www.summitpost.org/iceberg-notch/542192.

thank you Bob , your page was one of the reasons I considered do it. Also while I wish Jim Egan's video was clearer it was good enough to tell that it does not seem horrible dangerous. Now if I can find someone who knows about the other ?s..........
