Are there any good moderate rock routes on Gannett Peak in the 5.6-5.8 range? Trying to figure out how I want to climb this peak.
Thanks

Matt,
FWIW,
Joe Kelsey's Climbing and Hiking Wind River Mountains (Chockstone Press, 1994 edition) has some basic descriptions of rock routes on Gannett Peak (pages 120-124). Not sure if any are "good."

I'm wanting to do Gannett this summer and had some people bail. When are you planning on going and would you want some company?

The north ridge goes at 5.5 Started up this route, some years ago, approaching from Green river lakes, Then up Tourist creek. Scramble up to the saddle between Mt Koven, and Gannett, then up the north ridge. Do to weather we did not make it all the way, so all I can tell you is it is mostly scrambling,vs,climbing, with a fair amount of exposure. Check, Kelseys book.

The climb described here is not the whole N ridge, but finishes on the last part of the N Ridge:

Gives a good sense of what the upper portion of the N Ridge rock route would be like.

Thanks guys...I have the Kelsey Book and look at it quite a bit. I was just wondering if there were any good 5.8 routes in particular. I am headed to do Gannett the third week of July with a couple friends but you are certainly welcome to join. I hope to be there a week for a Wyoming 13er slamfest!

Thanks, but I'll be on the Grand then followed by the Cirque 2 weeks later. Have fun!
