My wife grew up in Vienna and I grew up 80 miles south west. I don't blame you for picking peaks over the beach....I'm flying back out here while my wife and kids go to Rehoboth Beach in DE for another couple of weeks with her fam.....I'll pass on slow cooking in the sand for glaciers and t storms.
If I happen to still be here then and you feel like some climbing, there's good one-pitch stuff, mostly top roping, at Great Falls along the Potomac:

If it's nasty hot and humid by then, the climbing will suck, but fortunately I have a few kayaks as well, all of which can handle at least Class 4 water. I'm not a playboater, though, more a river runner.
