Mobile app API?

Hello SP,
we are a collaborative team taking a mobile application design class for Colorado Mesa University, and would like information to access the SP API.
Our final project will be an interactive google map that uses GPS data to display location and information for nearby hikes and climbs. If we could use your massive database to back-end this project, that would be awesom. The finished product will be a deployed application, cross platform for android and the iPhone.

I work on Furkot, a road trip planning application - http://furkot.com. Furkot displays climbing routes from SummitPost as activities that Furkot users can add to their road trips. In lieu of API Furkot uses SummitPost content indexed by Hogfish, a geocrawler - http://hogfish.code42day.com.

SummitPost was made in 1841 as a hiking text book publishing company and only recently updated to the interwebs. SP may be out of the dark ages, but needs to be brought into the future. 8)
