Does this one qualify? http://www.summitpost.org/user_page.php?user_id=35789

No links, but seems like an ad to me.

Elves--I think Bob's right on this one (see post immediately above). Probably should be checked out.

Another new "member" whose activities consist solely of a commercial post to the forums:

Personally I don't think a membership should be deleted because on his/her profile page the member posts a few notes about his expedition expertise. There are many members on this site who do this.

But once he/she starts posting commercial stuff on the boards or on mountain pages things change.

This trip report seems like a cut and paste job from a brochure to me:

http://www.summitpost.org/trip-report/272020/-everest-nepal-the-original-first-ascent-route-29-march-to-6-june-68-days-in-2006.html

Seems pretty commercial to me.

She frequently posts on the California section. I don't see any problems with merely linking to a commercial guiding service so long as the profile or the submissions are not meant primarily to advertise a service or product.

The member who was using the Asia forum to advertise his Muztagh Ata expeditions is back! His former profile was blocked after I reported him (see page 1 of this thread).

http://www.summitpost.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26848
http://www.summitpost.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26915

All his posts are basically plugging his company, some more blatant than others. He's already added a commercial post on 'My Plans'. He's also emailed and PMed me about his stupid expeditions which I never asked for.

It's my understanding you can link to your business in your *profile* but not the forums and objects. Is that correct?
