This person says in comments he wants an "independent" page for Mount Langley. He thinks he can put up his own page to compete with the existing page, and has shrugged off comments that he cannot do that. The page is duplicate and should be deleted.

SP already has pages for two (distinct) Mt Merapis, including the one described here:

Sorry Brian Jenkins. I had searched King's Peak before and not found it (must have misspelled or missed the apostrophe). My apologies. How did you so quickly find it, do you search every day?

Also, I had not put much time into that page yet, but it was deleted with no message or anything. I think it would be courteous for mods to message users, so they can save the info if they wish.

A lot of us take a look at the "what's new" page once or twice a day. That's where I spotted it. I did put a note in the "comments" section to the effect that it was a duplicate but I guess it got gunned with the page before you saw it. I also gave Brian a heads-up.

Wrt saving the work, I would hope that you composed it off-line and then simply pasted it in. If so, your work is already saved.

I would suppose that the elves are far too busy to send out notices every time a page has to be deleted. In a self-regulated site, that's how it is.

Also you might imagine that if Brian hadn't already "bagged" King's I would have done it a couple of years ago at least.

A good way to find out if something has already been posted or not is to go to "mountains and rocks" and search on "Vancouver Island". I've tested this and it does find King's Peak.

To me too. He must've accidently submitted it twice, going by the date, number and info. And with his amount of submissions, it's probably very likely that it never appeared to him on his profile page.

Yes, those routes date back to the time of SP version 1, when you couldn't attach objects to other objects multiply.

Uh oh, a new user has made a duplicate Harney Peak (SD) page:

http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/rock ... -peak.html

THis is a duplicate of haliku's 2001 page:

http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/rock ... -peak.html

I sent the the page-builder a polite note on this issue, but he may need some elfin asisstance.

Thanks,

Sarah

The same guy has a duplicate page for Little Devils Tower, South Dakota

Well, I wouldn't post two pages for this anyway. The two routes are not identical. Looking upwards, one goes left of Šplevta ridge, the other one goes right of it. But on Jezerce plateau the two approaches join and the summit ascent on Oltar is the same.

I also pasted a note to this duplicate page. I've even offered my assistance to answer questions he has about contributing to the site. I haven't heard back. He's logged onto the site today, but hasn't responded to any comments to his page.

Elves?

I can understand somebody getting confused about a Mountain page vs a summit log. I can maybe forgive a spelling mistake. But somebody voted this a 10?????

I give him a 10 just for spelling it wrong.
