I have sent an email to the owner since he was recently active. In it, I have explained that his pages need work and that there are people interested in doing it, and I have asked if he is willing to share or transfer. Also, I have said that if he keeps the pages but does not improve them, I will probably transfer them to the interested parties.

Well see how he responds, if he does, and go from there.

I believe I have the ultimate solution to the "SP-page crisis" in central Europe.

Have Bogna take over Kaska's page, Dobry takes over Zuzanny's page, Weronikia takes over Zofia's page, Wit takes over Doroata's page ... AND that leaves Janina with Photo of the Week.

That way, EVERYTHING remains fair, and nobody will need a box of kleenex to wipe away their tears.

Shezzz..

Larry, did you get my PM? What say you? Would you like me to contact the person?

Fixed. Thank you for caring and sprucing up those pages.

I always assumed the person was "inactive," being that the person never answered my comments, (or those of others), offering "constructive criticism" on his pages.

No need to contact him, AND open up another can of worms.

As Vinnie whispered to Guido in 'The Godfather:'

"Forget about it !"

First and foremost, thank you for your time and effort. Second, I think I can (based on what I've seen just recently) predict what happens: The owner offers to share, somebody gets attracted and starts doing the job while the owner doesn't even bother to reply to his admin's emails, the other guy gets frustrated and takes his stuff off the page. The question remains: Why do such owners "create" a mtn/area page instead of an album (not to mention things such as having another pint in the local) – to stop others having fun :?:

The "SP-page crisis" in CE Europe would end if no green card were needed to move to the States. :P  8)

Before I approach this member, I need to be clear: is the copying word for word or almost so, or is it just obvious that the user relied heavily on the book and not his own knowledge?

I think you mean the first, but I want to be sure.

Well the first... and he add a few other info like transportation...but looking now I need to check other book also cause I think that he used 2 books and perhaps some sites also...hmmm...anyway the author is obvious Emilian Cristea a great romanian climber in the old times :). Ahhh the description of the ridge is copied word by word from his book (now with the book in my front can see this) and have a few typing mistakes  . He should at least to mention this, is not nice to copy everything so bad and not mention the source... But I remember when he copied many pics from other sites and posting it here, he never understood that is a bad thing so for sure neighter now lol.

Ohhh and how Yatsek sayed it is there a pic with a beautiful bear that is from other mountains (Bucegi).

The 'author' of this page perhaps should be contacted by the Elves, last time he was on SP 3 weeks ago.

Gone. Not even bothering. That page was last touched almost four years ago. It had no text at all, but what knocks me out is that two people voted 10/10.

He's exploiting an inconsistency that I find frustrating but have no power to change. Although it's against the rules to make commercial posts, it's okay to use your profile page as free advertising for your own products. SP has several photographers that have commercial links on their picture captions and profile pages. I think it's bullshit that they get away with that, but it's not against the rules. Therefore, he stays.
