I don't get the point?

I don't know if this is a bad submission or not, but does anyone understand what the intended point of such submissions?

http://www.summitpost.org/pipeline-utah/745612

To me, all submissions from the member sound like babbling with no real information?

Not that I'm making fun of the person, I'm just wondering if anyone esle sees the intention of all the pages added?

Political rant, trip log, or trip report?

Sounds like the guy might be running for political office.

I don't get the point either. But I get the oil drill.

LOL!

That's an interesting article. There is a ton of real information there, just not a point to it!

It isn't a rant, just a series of facts. Though the math is wrong. If the pipeline carries 62,000 BPD it will cover the capacity of nearly 300 trucks per day, not mearly 100+.

Some pics would be nice, but I gave it a 10 for the lols.

I would suspect "DrunkPosting," except he's apparently posting from Utah, where a night of hard drinking means sneaking a caffeinated Diet Coke while your spouse is with the kids, so...

When I was living in Utah, we drank Pepsi products and ate jello, but we were careful not to make a "slurping" sound when we ate it.

Is this a slow night on SP, or what ???

Anyway, I agree, seems out of place, but we have plenty of other weird and more or less useless things taking up storage space. Me, for example.

Yes, but your "relative" (Nicole Richie) really ROCKS !!! :D

I actually liked it...

Not for the visit to the pipes, but if you read other of his contributions they have less the tone of a guidebook, and more the tone of "some say...".

Some say there is a long pipeline crossing the desert. legend has it it can be seen from xxx and that it goes on to the edge of the earth...

Who knows, maybe some of the photoless places he talks about are actually hidden jems.
Or maybe i should go to sleep... (2.24 am)
If anyone here is from Utah they might want to go and check them out.

'night

Yeah - but wouldn't it be BETTER if the dude provided PHOTOS to accompany his text ???

Then we would REALLY know what he's talking about, instead of (just) guessing .. ... :?

Utah locals will recognize most all of the places he wrote about. They aren't really unknown or hidden. Some of the peaks he mentions already have pages on Summitpost?

This member was originally posting these kinds of pages as trip reports and routes. It seemed he wanted to contribute but didn't really have a sense of the site and page expectations. One look told me I probably wasn't getting anywhere talking about those things. Rather than chase the guy off the site, I decided to change his pages to custom objects, where they wouldn't get in the way too much, and he seemed to get the point and has been posting them as such ever since.

Sound reasonable or should I have nuked away?

Scott, he could (possibly) be referring to this article from the Deseret News ..

Of course it is reasonable. Some would say it is even an interesting writeup. Start nuking stuff like that and there would a couple hundred thousand pics (which take up more space) that we should add to the nuke list too.
