What Mountain is this?

On the Pik Pobeda page a guide service is noted. I looked at their web page and found that the mountain in the back to looks a bit like Rainier. Errrr... not.

I agree. It certainly looks like Rainier at a casual glance. I checked out a bunch of Rainier shots on the SP page and couldn't confirm. Being somewhat handicapped having never been to Rainier. A considerable bit of research may be required.

No name, though :-(

Looks a bit like this, though there is much less greenery there

Not entirely convinced that the picture hasn't been pieced together, i.e. the greenery isn't necessarily real. Would suppose the mountain is in Kyrgyzstan though it doesn't seem to be any of those in the company's Adventure section.

Though I can't say what mountain it is, for sure, it's not Rainier.

When I look at my guidebook, it does indeed look like the peaks around Kara Kol in Kyrgyzstan, though I can't say which one. Possibly peak 5216 or Pik Archal-Ter? :?:

I would guess that if you emailed them that they would tell you which peak it is.

Pretty sure it's Mt Baker, w/the Black Buttes on the right skyline. Located in Washington state, Whatcom county, south of Canadian border.

Nice eyes everyone.

Great find Gangolf. That seems like a match. Thanks for the link too. And the mountain is in... Italy?

There are some subtle differences between them that make me think that Gangolf's suggestion isn't the right one, even when considering view distance and angle. Kyrgyz mountain?: left peak has a chute shape on near side, right peak has double apex, shallow dip between them and generally glaciated. Italian mountain: left peak does not have a chute shape on near side, right peak has single apex, deep dip between them and generally snow covered.

You're right that I'm wrong and Mount BBaker it is:

It is certainly Mt Baker. Exact match.

The question is, since Kyrgyzstan has so many spectacular mountains, why use Mt. Baker instead? :?:

To me, the mountains in Kyrgystan look awesome:

Mt Baker is also awesome, but they could have used a local mountain just as easily. (Also, since the photo was from Mt Baker, it was almost certainly a stolen pic).

I lived in Bellingham for 7 years and am ashamed I didn't see it outright.

Perhaps their site is developed by someone that doesn't know jack about mountains, just about web design. hah. Scott, you should offer up some suggestions. I like your choices.
