Here's a funny video my friend sent me. The perfect image of the wannabe climber that I have met several times.

Been a long time since I've been in an indoor gym. Are there really folks like this?

This is not even bad actually. He did not even use "send it dude," or 100 other slang words I hear when I 'boulder'

I dare say most climbers should be able to partially identify themselves in that video, too, if they are honest with themselves.

I know I can :D

Been climbing outside for 6 hours yesterday but due to daylight being over I went to an indoor gym for 3 extra hours in the evening.

I hope you been practicing running a PDL for the Noze

He's not a real gym climber. There was no "gorilla yells" every time he made a move.

Use of grunts and yelling also seems to be a requirement to be a sport climber. Watched (listened) to a guy doing that when 3 feet off the ground on a 5.6 route last weekend. Didn't seem to do much for his climbing, nor did it impress the girls climbing the route next to him.

Yes there are. I met this kids at school and started climbing with him. He started climbing at a gym and that's how he got into it. I showed him this video and he got pretty embarrassed because of how similar it was to him. For instance, he chalks up multiple times even on short routes, he will break and chalk up. I haven't used my chalk bag since last summer.

As long as there having fun is what I always say. :D

Do you think Chris Sharma climbing 5.15 would impress girls? He yells quite a bit.

My hands sweat a lot, I chalk up a lot. What's the problem with that?

When its 30 degrees out and you chalk up every move, either your an addict, or your hands are very messed up. (this one guy I know)

I try not to chalk up, even in summer, it waste time and energy and messes up my flow, but that's just me.
