I live in the Northeast and I have seen; voles, jumping mice, shrews, pine martens, fishers, otters (river), foxes, coyotes, deer, moose, Bears, and etc.
I have had a deer jump ove my tent, while I was sleeping in it.
I was almost tread upon by a moose while I was in my tent sleeping. (spot a trend here?)
And I have had mice nibble holes in not one but two tents
But it's all good. Cheers!

On friday nadie and me could see a beautiful salamader (<i>Salamandra salamandra</i>) when descending Barranco de los Huertos, La Pedriza, Sierra de Guadarrama, Madrid (Spain). It was night and we had not flash so we took 2 photos lighting with our headlamps. I don't know if the one that I took with a single use camera will be good but <a href=//www.summitpost.com/mountains/photo_link.pl?photo_id=9545&object_id=779&type=mountain&mountain_id=7><b><i>here you have a very similar example</i></b></a>

Highland cows. Has anyone seen these? If you are from the EU then you probably know what they look like. Being from Minnesota, and knowing primarily Holstein cows (the black and white ones that give milk), these were quite a treat! They were a cross between a golden retriever and a cow. Shaggy brown hair, and BIG horns! It was fun because the trail went right through their field (West Highland Way). There was nothing between us and them so we did not hang around for too long.
Oh yeah- soccer boy, you remember this one- I got attacked by a ruffled grouse one day. I was poised for the defense before I knew what was happening- my hiking stick became a staff and I was Donatello- I though it was something much bigger. When we found out what it was, we started laughing
Here is a link to the Highland Cows

Ive seen about everything in the states:

Deer, Elk, Antelope, Turkey, Grouse, Squirrels,Rabbits, Black Bear, Marmots, Pika, Golden Eagles,Bald Eagles, Rattlesnakes, Bushsnakes, etc. The only thing ive never seen in the wild that I would like to see is beavers. They always manage to elude me.

Deer, Elk, Moose, Foxes, Rattlesnakes, Marmots, Pikas, Mice, Squirrels, Rabbits, Porcupine. I have seen a beaver. I was fishing Geneva Creek southwest of Mount Bierstadt and kept seeing a big splash out of the corner of my eye. I thought to myself, "damn that's a big fish I gotta get me one of those." After about forty five minutes of stalking this "big fish" I finally saw it pop its head out of the water and realized it was a beaver and not a fish.

Ditto as above

I would have to add Whales! I have seen grey whales off the Oregon coast along with sea lions, and seals. Has anyone else seen much marine life?

Various types of seal and sea lions, walrus, otter, Grey, Minke, Fin, Sei whales in addition to Orcas. I have spotted several types of popoises, actually saw a baby spotted porpoise born. Spinner dolphins are really cool. Hundreds of types of sea birds and fishes including Hammerhead and blue sharks. Ok, ok, I have an bit of an advantage, used to work aboard ship. :-)

I'd guess I've seen just about every species of wild animal between CO and CA except a mountain lion. Some of my most memorable:
- Bald eagles at the east end of Glenwood Canyon
- Bighorn sheep up Avalanche Creek
- Two big rattlesnakes intertwined on the trail in the Gila Wilderness
- Bobcats and wild turkeys on Garvin Mesa
- That huge 6-point elk up West Terror Creek (horns now mounted on the wall in our cabin)
- The big rat I shot with a 30-30 in the root cellar (the freezer took a direct hit on the ricochet)
- The summer we had a porcupine population explosion

California Gray Whales. :-D

I've seen the typical black bears, deer, etc. Never a mountain lion. I think the most unique was a herd of wild donkeys near the Providence Range.
